The Importance Of Choti Diwali
During Choti Diwali (Narak Chaturdashi), an ancient ritual mandates devotees to perform puja for Lord Krishna, Yama, and Lord Hanuman. The importance of celebrating this festival lies in the fact that it protects devotees from an untimely demise. The Legend Associated With Narak Chaturdashi
Narak Chaturdashi is also called a festival of emancipation, considering Lord Krishna had killed the demon, Narakasura, on this day. According to Vishnu Purana, a demon by the name of Narakasura terrorized mankind and gods, as he was blinded by the infinite power he possessed. He held sages and 16,000 women hostage. When the tyranny of the demon crossed all the levels of toleration, Lord Krishna had to come forward when he was requested by groups of sages and gods to handle the demon. The only problem with Lord Krishna was that Narakasura attained a boon that none other than a woman would be the cause of his death. So, Lord Krishna appointed his wife, Satyabhama as a chariot-driver and with her help, he was able to kill the demon. Now, there was a problem before Krishna related to the 16000 maids who were held hostage by the demon Narakasura. They requested Krishna that since the society will not accept them, he, therefore, should accept them as his wives, thus preserving their dignity. So, Lord Krishna, with the help of Satyabhama, married those maids. Hence, to honor the killing of demon Narakasura and the marriage of Krishna with 16000 damsels, a tradition called Deepdan came into being. Lakshmi Puja offers you one of the most intelligent solutions in the form of prosperity in your life.
